10 minuman asik saat puasa :)

We’re not very far away from the Holiday Season and I’m sure many of you already think of what they’ll put on the tables. If it’s easier with food, what are the best holiday drinks during the cold December? Here are our ten picks, with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, on the list.

Hot chocolate

It’s a must if you love chocolate and you need something hot to keep your body warm. There’s no standard recipe other than the fact that you need basic ingredients such as chocolate or cocoa and milk. From that point, after you put it in the saucer for melting, we’ll let your mind fly. Add whatever you think it’s going to make it better. It’s a great way to warm up your day.

Eggnog

Popular in North America, Central America, South America or Central Europe, Eggnog is a mixture of milk, cream, sugar and beaten eggs. Famous during winter for the Christmas or the New Year’s Eve party, Eggnog can also be flavored with cinnamon, whiskey, brandy, rum or cognac. There are plenty of recipes online to make your own eggnog, but for those that just aren’t good in the kitchen, it appears in stores around Halloween.

Orange Mulled Cider

A cold winter night and you’re tired of tea already? How about the orange mulled cider? It only takes 5 minutes to prepare it and 25 minutes to have it done, and more to it, it won’t get you fat. All you need is 1 gal of apple cider, 4 cinnamon sticks, 1 teaspoon whole cloves, 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg and 1 tub CRYSTAL LIGHT Sunrise Classic Orange Flavor Sugar Free Drink Mix.

Mix them together in a sauce pan but remember not to boil them cause they get bitter. Now you can invite 16 people over to your house and play the guitar while watching the fire in the stove.

Cherry Cranberry Shakes

cherry cranberry shakes

I love when I have to use the blender. I am in love with the idea of putting lots of ingredients inside and pushing a button, so that I can get a tasty creamy drink. It’s not going to make your day warmer but the combination of cranberry juice and cherry soda sure is going to increase your tongue’s excitement level. It only takes 10 minutes to make it and most likely, less than that to drink it.

Hot Buttered Rum

I’ve never tried the hot buttered rum before, but seeing the pictures, I will bet my salary that this one tastes hot hot hot. Made with dark rum, butter, sugar, and cloves mixed with hot water, the recipe is going to take a while after you stir the ingredients well. Yummy! If you want your Christmas party to be a hit this year, why not surprise all your guests with your hot buttered rum.

Bishop

A mixture of wine, oranges and sugar and classic among the English hot punches, bishop used to be a very popular drink a couple of centuries ago. It faded in time and not many people remember it as a drink for the Christmas season.

standard recipe will have 1 navel orange, 8 whole cloves and 1 bottle of Ruby Port and can also be spiced with anise and cinnamon if you need more flavor.

Though usually it serves hot, some people enjoy it as a cold beverage, too, reminding you of the Latin sangria.

Pecan Pie Martini

There’s a saying. Don’t mix business with pleasure. But why? They mixed pecan pies and a martini to get a delicious drinking desert, the Pecan Pie Martini. It does take a little bit longer to prepare but it’s a must during the holiday season and I assure you all your guests will be craving for “just” one more glass, because it tastes incredible. The picture speaks for itself.

Brandy Alexander

Popular during the early 20th century, Brandy Alexander is a gin-based cocktail, a favorite of John Lennon, Ringo Starr and Harry Nilsson. It doesn’t take long to prepare it and all you have to do is to shake really well a mixture of brandy, dark creme de cacao, heavy cream and fresh mint leaves. The pickiest of your guest will appreciate the flavored taste and will most likely ask you for the recipe.

Apple-Brandy Hot Toddy

It only takes 10 minutes and it’s extremely easy to prepare the Apple Brandy Hot Toddy. You just boil water, add some honey and stir until it gets dissolved and then you pour lemon juice and apple brandy. Easy, right? Pour the whole mixture in a tea-like mug/glass and add a cinnamon stick for more flavor. It’s great for all those winter nights when you need a hot drink and may also be great as a remedy for a cold.

Gluehwein

That’s another one I never knew of. I mean I always drink mulled red wine with cinnamon during winter, but Gluehwein is a bit different because it adds cloves, sugar and some oranges. Best place to drink it is on the streets at those Glühwein stands in various cities (usually Europe: Belgium, Germany, Austria). If you do it at home it gets served hot in heated (warm water) mugs or glasses, and will make your visitors anxious to know the recipe. Don’t tell them it’s that simple.
